When transporting timber, logs or loading round timber (raw wood) etc., the tension of the lashings must be checked according to the BLG (Federal Association of Road Haulage, Logistics and Disposal). They may have to be re-tensioned during the journey. Lashing straps with ratchets can also be used when observing the requirements for load securing according to VDI 2700 [Association of German Engineers].
Some lashing straps are disposable. In order to meet all requirements for load securing, the linear breaking load is certified and printed on such lashing straps. Maximum system strength is achieved when using double stay locks.
Anti-slip mats and anti-slip films are used in the timber industry to form a safe loading unit. This is particularly relevant for securing treated wood against slipping.
